Step 1.
Do it for yourself
Who do you want to be in future? See school as the path that leads to who you would love to be. When you go to school think about how you can apply what you are learning to your future career.Assuming you have not yet decided on your future career, go with the purpose of fulfilling a personal pleasure.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- What are the things that I love to do (your hobbies)?
This could be playing video games or hanging out on social networking websites, - Who do I do these things for?
Yourself - Why do I do them?
Because it makes you happy, it gives your a sense of accomplishment and a sense of purpose.
See school as you see your hobbies.
Step 2.
Focus on enjoying school
Yes, the best way to be an excellent students/pupil is to make the conscious effort to delight in everything about school.Why is that top students in school are usually the happy ones?
It may interest you to know that top students are not happy because they score high marks, rather they score high marks because they are happy about being in school.
Condition your mind to love school, picture school as you would picture your favourite activity and discus lesson topics with your friends in the same way you would discuss your favourite video game or movie.
Step 3.
Have an idea of lesson topics before class
Reading around the subject area before class will not only prepare your mind for the class but will also generate an interest for the information which are you about to receive.Think of this as watching a movie trailer before watching the full movie.
Step 4.
Ask and Answer questions during classes
Interacting with the teacher will help keep you be more attentive and focused in class.Step 5.
Go through lesson notes after class
It is always a good idea to read through the lesson notes after, this will keep the information grounded firmly in your memoryStep 6.
Practice with examination questions
Inquire from your teacher what is expected in examination and 'play around' with examination questions. It would be a great idea to have your teach give you feed back on your solutions to the questions.Step 7.
